Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network
Community building through faith, cooperation and understanding
January 8, 2018
We are inviting your organization to become a partner in an extremely important community project this spring. As you may know, many people in the Tamaqua Area do not have an income that allows them to purchase adequate food to feed their families. The TAMAQUA AREA FAITH FELLOWSHIP NETWORK and TAMAQUA AREA COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP are collecting food and raising money for the Primitive Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, and the Trinity United Church of Christ food banks in Tamaqua.
We are asking businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals in the Tamaqua Area to consider conducting projects this winter and in the early spring to collect food and/or raise money for Hunger Weekend which will take place on May 4,5, and 6. A Hunger Walk concludes the weekend on May 6. The rain date for the walk is May 20th.
Some suggestions as to what you can do are:
• Ask people to contribute $1.00 for a Hunger Weekend donation card. We will supply the cards if you wish.
• Hold a dress down day and collect food or money for that day.
• Hold a bake sale or dance or movie night
• Ask church attendees to contribute $1.00 each month.
• Collect food or money at your organization’s monthly meeting
• Organize a team to participate in the Hunger Walk
These are just a few of the things that can be done to help Tamaqua food banks meet the needs of the people in our area. If you have other ideas, please share them with us.
We are planning a recognition event that will be held immediately after the Hunger Walk at the Tamaqua Art Center where people and organizations can present the money collected and be recognized for their efforts.
It is important for you to know that 100% of the food and money collected will be given to three Tamaqua food banks. All the work is done by volunteers and the cost of materials is donated by TAFFN and TACP.
If you have suggestions or questions, please contact Paul Dodson at 570-668-0289 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for what you will do.
